In-Person Support

Service Description

In some situations, children and families may benefit from meeting directly with a child life specialist in person. These session may take place in a mutually agreed upon location such a facility (i.e. hospital, extended care facility, doctor's office) or a neutral location such as the park or local library. In person sessions may be beneficial for a family who has experienced a traumatic situation and has multiple children who would benefit from working with the child life specialist. Our Child Life Specialist will facilitate a coping or therapeutic activity with the children and/or family members to address the concerns indentified for the session. Depending on the length of the session, the Child Life Specialist may also work individually with each child as well. In Person Sessions allow for more adaptability and may be especially valuable for children with special needs who may struggle with the virtual session platform. The Child Life Specialist will provide any pre-work or materials for any activity that will be implemented during teh session. The session will conclude with a wrap up session with the caregivers as well. In Person Support sessions vary in length, beginning at one hour and will be adapted based on the needs of the family.
