About the event

For our next Prioritizing the ME in Mental Health Webinar Series, we are pleased to invite Dumeetha Luthra as our guest speaker as we explore the topic of VR and its use for child life professionals. Immersive technologies such as virtual reality (VR) are shaping many aspects of our society. From gaming to healthcare, these technologies are both changing and challenging the ways we interact and innovate, aiming to better support our needs. As healthcare workers, we all know that one of the greatest challenges, highlighted by the Covid-19 pandemic, has been the need to improve our mental health, our emotional, social and psychological well-being. Can immersive technologies play a role in changing and aiding our approach to mental health? Dumeetha Luthra, founder of VR company Take-Pause, will share the story of her journey from being a BBC war correspondent to entrepreneur and advocate for VR's ability to reduce anxiety. The talk will be followed by a 30-minute interactive discussion on the realities and practicalities of utilizing VR in a hospital setting and alternative uses for it beyond patient care. *This webinar will be capped at 100 attendee so be sure to register early!*
