Reading Between the Lines: Child Life Assessment in Adult Hospice

This month we welcome Alyssa Pettingill, MS, CCLS!

Alyssa is the founder of EmpoweringKidz, a Child Life private practice based in San Diego, where she has provided in-home and telehealth services to children and families since 2022. With over a decade of experience as a Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS), Alyssa has worked at renowned institutions, including NYU Langone Health and Stanford Children’s Hospital, developing expertise in supporting children through stressful experiences and advocating for the needs of families. In addition to her clinical work, Alyssa serves as Interim Director of Operations at Hearts Connected, where she helps oversee program operations, develop service workflows, and strengthen partnerships to expand access to Child Life services. She is also a part-time faculty member at her alma mater, San Diego State University, where she teaches a course on the theories and applications of therapeutic play.
