About the event
We're proud to host Amy Palder, Ph.D. for this interactive workshop. Dr. Amy is the founder of The Pocket Sociologist. Created specifically to address current issues in our society, The Pocket Sociologist meets clients where there are by providing a pocket resource to answer questions from the everyday confusion to the more complex barriers to change. Encouraging curiosity in a safe space, The Pocket Sociologist enables individuals to achieve their goals of being more inclusive, equitable, and empathetic by exploring and deconstructing roadblocks to understanding.
During this event, we will focus on the LGBTQ+ community to:
- understand what genuine inclusivity looks like, how to achieve it, and why it matters -learn the phases of advocacy and the difference between intention and impact
- recognize and understand, microaggressions, subtle acts of exclusion, and unconscious bias
- know what to do when you don't get it right
This session unpacks what you need to know to create and ensure safe and inclusive spaces not just for the LGBTQ+ community, but for all those that may not "fit".
Please note, this event is in Eastern Standard Time and LIVE ONLY. Due to the interactive nature of the workshop, the session will require camera/microphone access and will not be recorded.
